I will be happy once I— pause right there. Be happy with what you have. Be happy with where you are at. In fact, love where you are at. This fall, put a hold on destination chasing and adore where you are socially, academically, physically, mentally. Continue to prioritize what is important to you and make it happen. Let the butterflies and excitement roll. There is no better feeling than restoring firing, adrenaline-rushing butterflies. Do what brings you that passion. Remember that what you want, wants you back. How to maintain it? Work on staying consistent and 100% committed to a healthy mindset, this a promise I am making myself to finish off 2022 strong.
There is no extreme seasonal depression in southern california, but the early sunset is hitting me hard. I find myself drowsy, lazy, and tempted to hibernate in the safe haven of my room. When the days get shorter, so does my social battery and attention span. This makes taking extra steps in your routine even more important these next few months. Stay inspired with all things fall. Hot girl summer is merely a mindset, not a 3 month motto. Carry it forward to the fall. The best way to keep yourself busy with those you love is to create a fall bucket list. It instills routine, structure, and health habits.
While it is really easy to get into a routine of staying home and hibernating, make an effort to see people who make you continually happy and allow yourself to enjoy time with friends. Seek the people who make your day instantly more positive. Practice reaching out and be cognizant of doing so. The semester is on the final countdown! When you are busy with papers and finals, but need to make time to be social and get out of your bed or your desk chair: coffee dates. So simple. You are telling me you can not text any of your friends to get coffee? Or study at a new cafe? Productivity. Even better, try new fall drinks to romanticize the study outing.
Next fall tip: sweat set, movie, cooking night with your friends. You do not need a boyfriend this holiday to take advantage of fall activities. Cooking releases focus from social media, allowing your creative side to shine through. Homemade pizza is the cooking night of the season. The best part about homemade pizzas? Someone’s pizza always goes wrong. It makes for a good story and a memorable evening. Hot take here. Before you flip to Christmas music, let an r&b playlist simmer while you are cooking this fall.
Welcome to soup season. Pumpkin, butternut squash, french onion, potato. Experimenting with soup is just a part of the era. TikTok introduced adding tortellini to creamy tomato feta soup. I am so here for this trend. Even better, it is a chance to sneak in the extra veggies in your fridge.
While this posting did not verge on the side of vulnerability, I have had a pep in my step these past few days. I have found joy in not seeking out opportunity and good fortune, but allowing it to come naturally. It would only be fitting to cater a light-hearted memoir this week. Sending hugs and healthy wishes this autumn season!
Much love,
Shaudeh Farjami
